CDF Survival Packs

Since the idea started in February 2015, CDF has already gifted more than 200 Survival Packs to two local non-profit veteran organizations (West Care Foundation’s Mustard Seed Inn and Heaven on Earth for Veterans) and various homeless shelters housing veterans in St. Petersburg, FL to help provide transitioning veterans with a durable backpack containing socks, hygiene kits, sunscreen, non-perishable snacks, powdered drink mix, instant coffee, bottled water, AA/AAA batteries, and other specialty items as available.

Survival Pack supplies primarily come from donations.  Support the Troops is currently donating a large portion of the supplies from their veteran supply warehouse in Wesley Chapel, Florida.  NatureBox and GoPicnic donated several healthy snack options, Comfort Socks contributed 240 pairs of socks, which in turn has enabled CDF to provide survival packs to veterans for just under $20 per survival pack.

CDF would ultimately like to maintain a homeless veteran supply pantry at our own veteran center and/or provide supplies to local non-profit organizations to have on-hand for CDF backpacks and allow veterans could come back with their backpack to replenish supplies.
